Al Hamra Governorate is a stunning Omani state located in the interior province of Sultanate of Oman, bordered by the governorates of Nizwa, Bahla, Rustaq, and Ibri. Situated at an elevation of 580 meters above sea level, it offers a plethora of remarkable tourist attractions:
- Misfat Al Abriyeen: An ancient high-altitude village known for its mud-brick houses and lush farms, as well as ancient irrigation channels. The village hosts several restaurants and cafes enhancing visitor experience.
- The Old Quarter: Known for its traditional mud houses, this area has been the backdrop for many TV series. Notable houses include Beit Al Maghri and Beit Al Safah.
- Jebel Shams: One of the highest peaks in the Arabian Peninsula with an elevation reaching up to 3,000 meters, it features a camping center and is surrounded by smaller villages inhabited by the mountain community.
- Al Hoota Cave: A limestone cave extending up to five kilometers inside the Eastern Mountain, it includes a pool inhabited by blind fish that use sonar for navigation.
- Sharaf Al Alamayn: A historical water pool once used for watering livestock.
